The History of SGT DORK

The creation of SGT DORK began in 2000, and they performed until around 2003, with their music being eccentric and indirect. After Hurricane Katrina, Tim started the band again, including the other original guitarist (Lars München/Dave James), but other members had moved away. The band wasn’t as popular this time, but Tim could perform much of the music he later released on his solo album. More recently, in 2022, Tim wanted to play in a band again. This time, he decided not to work with the same people he had played with for years and instead worked with the few younger musicians he knew. The band, led by their eccentric frontman, focuses on a New Orleans fusion style of music, playing live local music in areas like New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Now, the band is more of a New Orleans band but with the eccentric foundation from its first iteration.

The Origin of the Name

After watching an episode of The Simpsons “Boy Scouts ‘n the Hood” where Nelson calls Bart “Seargent Dork,” Tim knew he wanted to name a band that. He got his chance while trying to find a place for his eccentric and humorous songs that wouldn’t fit in the bands he was playing with at the time.
